Allyse's uncle and cousins wanted some affectionate name to call her, so they started to call her "A-weese" (Japanese people cannot pronounce "Ls" and they usually say it with an R or W). Then, it became "Weezy," which somehow became "Weedgie" and finally shortened to "Weedge." One day during a carpool, Tabitha Yim and Ashley Jenkins heard Allyse's father call her "Weedge" and they thought it was so funny and they started to use it and it eventually spread throughout the gym.
