When a machine breaks, what do you do? Fix it, of course. But while it's being repaired, naturally, a replacement is needed, and on Friday of April 16th on the island of Oahu, a replacement suddenly emerged into the spotlight, and her name was Allyse Ishino. The "machine," media darling Carly Patterson, was expected by all to win the meet, but she opened the door for the neophyte Ishino, and with the blink of an eye, the 16-year-old Santa Ana resident seized the opportunity, adding her name onto the list of Olympic contenders.

The television commentators marveled at her mental strength, unique skills and tireless consistency, but wondered if it would last. A few months later only miles away from Ishino's home, they got their answer when Allyse hit 8-for-8 of her routines at the Olympics Trials, placing 5th all around and earning a spot on the Training Squad.

Don't be fooled, though. Allyse's career began far before 2004. She quietly caught the attention of gym fans throughout the nation by placing up near the leader boards at national events, but untimely injuries prevented her from becoming "the one." Only July 18th of this year, Allyse waited, as did her fellow teammates at the Karolyi Ranch, to see if her competitive prowess would be rewarded in team placement. Live on National television, Allyse learned that she would be one of three alternates traveling to Athens, ready to step in if needed.

This website was created to finally put this talented trickster on the world wide web for all to see. We hope you enjoy it, and please sign the guestbook with your comments and support!
